What a CP575 notice is
You are holding a CP575, or you need proof of your business EIN.
It confirms the EIN the IRS assigned you, and you do not need to reply to it.
Follow the steps to download a digital copy or request Letter 147C instead.
Which numbers matter?
60 days
You have 60 days to tell the IRS when your responsible party changes.
File Form 8822-B before the 60 days run out.
800-829-4933
This is the IRS Business and Specialty Tax Line for EIN questions.
Call it if you have more than one EIN and aren't sure which to use.
Letter 147C
This letter confirms an EIN the IRS already gave your business.
Ask for it by phone if you can't get the digital CP575.
What changed recently?
Since August 6, 2026, designated officials can download a digital CP575 from Business Tax Account. Banks and financial institutions accept it instead of Letter 147C.

What is it?

The original paper CP575A to J cannot be copied or recreated. Sign in to Business Tax Account and download the digital CP575. Or call 800-829-4933 and ask for Letter 147C instead.
What do I do with it?
- Use the EIN on everything you send the IRS and Social Security about the business.
- Make copies for banks and lenders.
- Report a new responsible party within 60 days on Form 8822-B.
