Here is what we collect, how we use it, and who we share it with. It also covers the terms for using IRS Code Lookup.
Who we are
IRS Code Lookup is a private tax help service. We are not part of the IRS and we are not affiliated with it.
- We are not a law firm.
- We are not a tax preparer or an accounting firm.
- We never ask for your Social Security number.
- We never take payment on behalf of the IRS.
What the form sends
When you send our form, it sends the details below.
- The notice code.
- The letter date.
- The amount.
- Your phone number.
- Your state, detected from the region of your connection or chosen by you.
- The page you were on.
How the photo reader works
When you add a photo of your letter, it is read on your own device. The photo is never uploaded.
When you press Explain, the words in the box are sent to an AI model. The model writes the explanation you see.
We do not keep that text. We record only that a letter was explained, with the page and the time.
Before you press Explain, remove your name, address and taxpayer number from the box.
What we count
We count clicks on the call button and use of our tools. Each count includes the page, a visit label and the tool name. It never includes the text you type.
- A cookie named inc_t keeps the visit label for 90 days.
- Your browser stores your last state and your last notice code.
- Our host counts visits without cookies.
Who we share your details with
Your details go to an independent licensed tax professional. That professional contacts you about your notice.
We share details with the kinds of partners below.
- Licensed tax professionals, such as CPAs, enrolled agents and tax attorneys.
- Tax resolution firms.
- Service providers for hosting and for phone and text delivery.
These professionals may pay us for the connection. Under some state laws, this can count as a sale or sharing of personal information.
You can ask us not to sell or share your details. See the Do not sell my data page.
Seeing or deleting your details
To see or delete your details, email us at contact@irs-notice-code.com.
Terms of use
Our pages give general information based on the irs.gov pages they link to. They are not tax, legal or accounting advice.
The printed date on your notice controls. Our tools and the letter reader can be wrong, so always check your letter.
The professional you talk to is independent. They are responsible for their own advice.
Do not send someone else's details without their permission.
Calls and texts
By sending the form, you agree to be called or texted at the number you entered, including by automated means, about your notice.
Consent is not a condition of purchase.
